FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How realistic is the Simulator ?
The Simulator is a genuine Boeing 747-400 Flightdeck removed from a real aircraft, restored by ourselves and turned into a Flight Simulator using the most up to date software. It has 3 sound systems and wrap around visuals resulting in a highly realistic experience.
Does the Simulator move?
There are two types of flight simulator, Full Motion and Fixed Base. Our Simulator is Fixed Base meaning it does not move, however, as you are fully enclosed in the Flightdeck and we have a wrap around screen for the visuals you will actually feel like you are moving.
Full Motion Simulators tend to be owned / run by Airlines and can be found on the Internet, expect to pay in the region of £600 per hour.
Does the Simulator have a visual / outside view ?
The Simulator has a wrap around visual display using three projectors blended into one image
of the view from the Flightdeck.
Do I need any flying experience ?
No previous experience is necessary. Your friendly Instructor will guide you every step of the way and let you handle as much, or as little as you feel comfortable with. If you already have experience, either real or simulated, the session can be tailored to suit your needs.
Can I choose which Airports I use ?
Absolutely, our airport database and visuals recreate the whole planet so you can choose any Airport suitable for a 747. We have many situations pre-saved for you to try including the challenging approaches at Hong Kong Kai Tak, Madeira or St. Maarten.
We fully appreciate that it is YOUR Experience not the Instructors so we will do our best to tailor make your flight and accommodate your wishes.
Am I allowed to bring friends ? Do I have to pay extra ?
Yes you can, the Flightdeck has 4 seats 2 are occupied by you and your instructor so you can bring two additional guests free of charge. Friends and family can observe but not fly the simulator unless they have bought experiences themselves.
How much time do I get at the controls ?
You will get the FULL amount of time you have paid for at the controls. Unlike other Simulators all our experiences include a free pre-flight briefing of around 20 minutes. Please allow extra time for this when you visit.
Can I fly the Simulator on my own ?
No, due to the complex nature of how the simulator works, an instructor would need to be with you in the Simulator to re-set if necessary. However, the Instructor can sit in the rear seat to allow you to fly single handed if you wish.
Is there an Age / Height / Weight limit ?
We have an age limit of 10 years old. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an Adult.
For the best experience guests should be above 1.5 Metres, this should allow you to see out of the windows and reach the Rudder Pedals. Assistance can be provided if necessary.
Guests who are over 6 feet tall, or over 18 stone in weight should contact us prior to booking as the Flightdeck may be difficult for you to access.
What about disabled access ?
We recognise that restricted access to the Flightdeck may unfortunately exclude some potential guests. In view of the vast amount of disabilities and abilities we would ask that you contact us
for advice on the acessibility of the Simulator for your specific needs.
There is a small staircase to climb to enter the Simulator, however, unfortunately the Flightdeck door is too narrow to accommodate wheelchairs.
The Simulator is not recommended for guests who suffer from motion sickness, claustrophobia, or epilepsy.
Can you accommodate larger groups / Team Building ?
As the Simulator is located in an out building at the owners home unfortunately it is not possible to accommodate large groups.
Do you offer videos of the Experience ?
Not at present, as this is a REAL 747 Flightdeck we don’t want to fill it with cameras and cables to capture multiple video angles. However you and your guests are welcome to take photos and videos of your experience.
We welcome you sharing these on Social Media.
Can I just turn up ?
